4-20 mA HART Communication and Channel Isolation

The AAI835-S00/K4A00 receives standardized analog field signals and converts them into internal data for control-station processing. It also performs the reverse conversion from internal data to analog field signals where applicable to the configured I/O function.

The HART-enabled configuration incorporates HART modems. Therefore, the module can communicate directly with connected HART field devices while processing the associated analog signal.

The module supports up to 16 HART devices per module and up to 32 HART variables. The control system can treat HART variables as ordinary process input data through the I/O connection.

For HART multidrop operation, the module supports a maximum of 5 input devices per channel. This multidrop mode accepts input devices only and does not support analog data values or burst-mode operation.

The specified HART variable refresh time is 1 second per device. When 16 HART devices connect to an ESB bus connection, the complete refresh cycle reaches approximately 17 seconds.
