Sensor Inputs and Signal Processing
The A6370 accepts speed signals from three sensor types. Eddy-current and Hall-element sensors use an input range of 0 to +/- 26 V, while magnetic VR sensors require at least 1 Vpp and support up to 30 V RMS. All three sensor types have a stated frequency range of 0 to 20 kHz.
The sensor supply provides -24.5 VDC with a tolerance of +/- 1.5 V. It also includes short-circuit protection and galvanic separation. However, the normal input range differs from the input limit: eddy-current and Hall-element signals operate within +/- 26 V, while the stated limit is +/- 48 V.
Digital Inputs and Outputs
The A6370 uses the A6371 backplane to connect its digital inputs and outputs. The four digital inputs handle two test values, test enable, and latch reset. Meanwhile, the seven digital outputs include six output channels and one Channel OK (COK) signal.
The digital outputs are short-circuit proof and have a maximum current rating of 25 mA. In addition, the input levels distinguish low signals of 0 to 5 V from high signals of 13 to 31 V. Check these levels when matching the monitor to external control signals.
Current and Pulse Outputs
The two current outputs support selectable 0/4-20 mA or 20-4/0 mA ranges. Their stated accuracy is +/- 1% of full scale, and the load must remain below 500 Ohm. These outputs provide current signals for connected monitoring or control equipment.
The backplane also provides three pulse outputs with a frequency range of 0 to 20 kHz. Their maximum voltage is 31.2 V, and the maximum current is 16 mA at 24 V. By comparison, the front-panel pulse output provides a 0-5 V TTL signal. A separate front-panel sensor output provides a voltage range of 0 to 3.9 V.
Communication and System Configuration
The A6370 supports configuration through a USB Type B interface. It also supports RS-485 communication at 38400, 57600, or 115200 baud, with up to 32 devices on the network. Therefore, check the required baud rate and device count when planning a replacement.
PROFIBUS DP is available on the A6370D/DP variant only, with a maximum of 31 devices. The standard A6370 designation does not confirm that this option is present. For this reason, verify the complete model designation before ordering a monitor for a PROFIBUS DP system.
Rack Installation and Replacement Checks
The monitor measures 211 x 130 x 43 mm and weighs approximately 490 g. The supplied specifications list a 3 RU rack height and a 42 HP width. The stated AMS 6300 SIS arrangement uses three A6370 monitors with one A6371 backplane.
Before ordering a replacement, confirm the full model designation, sensor type, communication interface, and backplane arrangement. Also, check the input signal range and output requirements against the existing system. These checks help ensure that the selected model matches the installed configuration.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Which sensors can the EPRO A6370 accept?
A: It supports eddy-current, Hall-element, and magnetic VR sensors. However, each sensor type has its own input voltage range, so check the signal level before connecting a sensor.
Q: Does every A6370 support PROFIBUS DP?
A: No. PROFIBUS DP is specified for the A6370D/DP variant only. Therefore, confirm the full model designation when replacing a monitor in a PROFIBUS DP network.
Q: What components are required for the stated AMS 6300 SIS configuration?
A: The specified arrangement consists of three A6370 monitors and one A6371 system backplane. The backplane provides connections for the listed digital inputs, current outputs, digital outputs, and pulse outputs.
Q: What should be checked before ordering a replacement?
A: Check the full model, sensor type, communication requirements, and backplane arrangement. In particular, confirm whether the application requires the A6370D/DP variant.
