Communication Interface and Function
The F3LC11-1F provides an RS-232-C interface for serial communication between a personal computer and the PLC. It uses half-duplex transmission with start-stop synchronization. Furthermore, its single communication port supports transmission speeds from 300 bps to 115.2 kbps, allowing users to select a rate according to the communication requirements.
The interface uses a 9-pin female D-sub connector. Its transmission distance is limited to 15 m maximum. Meanwhile, the RS and ER control lines remain continuously ON, and the interface does not support Xon/Xoff flow control.
PLC Access and Communication Settings
The module uses Yokogawa’s proprietary communication protocol. Users can configure the transmission speed, data format, checksum, ending character and protection settings.
Its access functions cover several PLC operations, including:
- Reading and writing sequence devices.
- Accessing the BASIC common area.
- Uploading and downloading ladder programs.
- Switching the PLC between RUN and STOP.
- Reading the PLC error log.
- Reading the user log.
In addition, the communication format supports 7-bit or 8-bit data, one start bit, configurable parity and one or two stop bits. Error detection uses parity checking and checksum functions.

The maximum number of modules depends on the installed PLC CPU model. For the F3SP21 CPU, the system supports up to 2 modules. For the F3SP25, F3SP28, F3SP35, F3SP38, F3SP53, F3SP58, F3SP59, F3SP66, F3SP67, F3SP71, F3SP76, F3BP20 and F3BP30 CPUs, the maximum is 6 modules.
These limits include modules with similar functions, such as Ethernet interface modules and GP-IB communication modules (slave). Therefore, users should consider the total number of applicable communication modules when checking the available installation capacity.
