ESB Bus Communication Interface
The SEC402-51 provides the ESB bus master interface function for communication between the safety control unit and connected safety node units. It transfers I/O module data through the ESB bus at a transmission speed of 128 Mbps.
The module uses two ESB bus ports and supports connection of safety node units through upper and lower ESB bus cables. Therefore, the system configuration allows distributed I/O expansion while maintaining direct communication with the safety control unit.
For ProSafe-RS SSC60S and SSC60D safety control units, two SEC402-51 modules are installed in the seventh and eighth slots to establish the ESB bus communication interface.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How many safety nodes can the SEC402-51 connect within an SSC60 configuration?
A: The SEC402-51 supports connection of up to 13 I/O nodes per SEC402 configuration for SSC60 series safety control units.
Q: What communication function does the SEC402-51 provide?
A: The module provides an ESB bus master interface function and transfers I/O module data between the safety control unit and safety node units.
Q: Where is the SEC402-51 installed in the safety control unit?
A: The SEC402-51 is mounted in the seventh and eighth slots of the SSC60S or SSC60D safety control unit.
Field Installation Guidelines
Install the SEC402-51 directly into the designated slots of the SSC60S or SSC60D safety control unit. Verify that the module seating mechanism locks correctly before system power application.
Route ESB bus cables according to Yokogawa installation requirements. Keep communication cables separated from high-voltage power wiring and sources of electromagnetic interference.
Connect the upper and lower ESB bus cables according to the system configuration drawing. Check cable shielding and grounding practices before commissioning the safety system.
During replacement operations, confirm the safety control unit power status and follow ProSafe-RS maintenance procedures for module removal and installation.
