Bachmann M200 Grid Measurement and Backplane Integration
The GM260 processes electrical measurements directly within the module. It supports two separate three-phase branches while using a common voltage monitoring point. Furthermore, the module performs True RMS calculations online and includes harmonic components through the 40th harmonic.
The voltage section accepts direct connection of input voltages up to 480 VRMS line-to-line. The six current channels interface with current transformers rated at 1 ARMS. Therefore, the module can acquire three-phase current and voltage data for each monitored branch without requiring an external calculation device.
The module calculates active power, reactive power, and apparent power for each phase and as total values. It also provides power factor and phase angle data. In addition, two independent 4-quadrant energy counters record supplied and drawn active and reactive energy.
Bachmann integrates the GM260 into SolutionCenter. Consequently, both directly measured channel values and calculated quantities can be accessed through the engineering interface. The module receives power through the system backplane with specified +5 V and +15 V current consumption.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What measurement method does the GM260 use?
A: The GM260 uses True RMS measurement and includes harmonic components up to the 40th harmonic.
Q: How many electrical measurement channels does the GM260 provide?
A: The module provides 3 voltage inputs and 6 current inputs, supporting two independent three-phase branches.
Q: Does the GM260 retain energy values after power interruption?
A: The supplied data specifies nonvolatile memory on the module for energy metering. The specified memory cycle is 1 s.
Field Installation Guidelines
- Install the GM260 within a compatible Bachmann M200 system according to the applicable hardware documentation.
- Verify the connected three-phase voltage remains within the specified measuring and overload ranges.
- Connect current transformers according to their rated 1 ARMS interface requirements and observe the specified current measurement range.
- Keep voltage and current wiring physically separated from high-current switching conductors where practical.
- Route measurement conductors to minimize electromagnetic coupling from contactors, drives, and high-frequency switching equipment.
- Apply the plant grounding and protective bonding scheme specified for the control cabinet.
- Confirm terminal polarity and phase assignment before energizing the measurement circuit.
- Check the configured nominal frequency against the actual 50 Hz or 60 Hz network.
- Verify the GM260 appears correctly in the applicable Bachmann SolutionCenter environment before commissioning measurement functions.
- Maintain the specified operating temperature, humidity, altitude, and electrical installation conditions.
- Do not exceed the stated continuous or short-term voltage and current overload limits.
- Validate measured voltage, current, frequency, and power values against an approved reference instrument during commissioning.
