Overview
The Honeywell 10310/2/1 is an Earth Leakage Detector (ELD) designed for monitoring insulation-related earth faults in DC power systems. It supports 24 V DC, 48 V DC, 60 V DC and 110 V DC monitored systems, while using a separate 24 V DC module supply. Furthermore, it provides manual self-testing, earth connection monitoring and relay-based fault indication for safety system applications.
Earth Leakage Detection and Operation
The 10310/2/1 monitors the electrical relationship between the DC supply and earth. Under normal conditions, it maintains an earth reference of -12 V DC. When an earth fault occurs, the detector responds to the specified earth current threshold and changes its internal relay state.
In addition, the module supports three earth connection operating modes:
- DC mode: Maintains a continuous -12 V DC earth reference.
- 1 Hz mode: Interrupts the earth connection at 1 Hz.
- 1/4 Hz mode: Interrupts the earth connection at 0.25 Hz, supporting earth fault location using suitable measuring equipment.
The module also includes a manually operated self-test and earth connection monitoring function. An earth fault sets the internal flip-flop and de-energizes the relay. The fault condition remains latched until the operator or an external reset signal resets the module.

Reset and Relay Output
The detector provides two external reset inputs, Rst24 and Rst110. Therefore, the module can receive a reset signal through the corresponding voltage range without requiring manual operation of the front-panel switch.
Its relay output provides common (C), normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) contacts. Furthermore, the internal fault latch keeps the relay in its fault state until a valid reset occurs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Which DC systems can the Honeywell 10310/2/1 monitor?
A: It supports 24 V DC, 48 V DC and 60 V DC systems, as well as 110 V DC systems. The module itself requires a 24 V DC supply, with a maximum permitted supply voltage of 30 V DC.
Q: How can the earth leakage detector be reset?
A: The module supports three reset methods: manual reset using the front-panel switch, a high-level signal at Rst24, or a high-level signal at Rst110. The applicable reset input voltage must remain within its specified range.
Q: What does the A5 and A11 keying configuration mean?
A: The module uses holes A5 and A11 for its module key coding. The corresponding rack code uses large pins at A5 and A11. Check the rack connector coding before selecting a replacement module.
